How to choose a boat?

Many know exactly what they want in a boat.
But, if you don't quite know what you want, here are some things to think about

Size Matters

1

How many people do I want to take on the boat

On a regular basis who will be joining you on the boat? Who would you like to join you - e.g. do you want to entice your teenager to spend more time with you?

2

Where do you want to take the boat

Bigger boats can handle more extreme conditions. That said, for those of us living in Australia, all boats in the Edgewater range are capable of going offshore.

3

Thinking of cruising the canals

In many parts of the canals dual speed zones exist. Boats 8 metres and under can travel at up to 40 knots while boats above 8 metres are limited to 6 knots.

What You Plan to Do Matters

1

If you are mainly fishing

Consider a Center Console (Edgewater CC models). Center Console's enjoy rough weather, provide excellent visibility, and have ample room to stand and land your fish.

2

If you are mainly entertaining

Consider the crossover (Edgewater CX models). Crossovers offer ample places to sit (in the bow, in the stern) and entertain, while still loving the open water in pursuit of the big fish.

3

If you do both

Try them both out and see which you are most comfortable in. You could liken the Crossovers to a beautiful sedan and the Center Consoles to a dual cab ute. But, we all know that recently the biggest buyers of dual cabs have been business people so don't shy away from a Center Console just because you're an accountant!

Other Things to Consider

1

Do you need the boat to be trailerable

The bigger boats often aren't trailerable (without a police escort) so keep this in mind when narrowing your selections.

2

Do you need to go a really long way without running out of fuel

If so, make sure you take fuel capacity into account.

Do you really want a cheap boat?

1

Is cheap worth the headache?

Unfortunately, some boats cost more than others - there are many boat brands out there that cost less than an Edgewater.

Usually, you will get what you pay for, and with boats, salty water, safety, and durability, something to consider.

After taking many boats out on the water, comparing most well-known brands, we have come to the conclusion that the Edgewater boats are top quality compared to many other available brands in Australia.

Unsinkable, SPI - build, finish, handling on the water, limited lifetime hull warranty and service is second to none.

You want your investment to last longer than a few years and not having to worry when you go offshore.
